Wi-Fi Signal Issues
Improve Wi-Fi signal for your Gazing Doorbell Camera
Poor Wi-Fi signal can cause your doorbell camera to go offline or experience delays. Here's how to improve it.
Why is my Wi-Fi signal poor?
Your device may be too far away from your wireless router, or there may be obstructions in between that reduce signal strength.
Solutions
-
Reposition your router
- Move your router closer to where the doorbell is installed
- Avoid placing the router near metal objects or appliances that can interfere with the signal
-
Get a signal extender
- Consider getting a Wi-Fi signal extender/repeater for your wireless router
- Place the extender between your router and the doorbell camera
-
Remove obstructions
- Thick walls, metal doors, and large appliances can block Wi-Fi signals
- Try to minimize obstacles between the router and the doorbell
How do I reconnect the Doorbell Camera to my Wi-Fi?
When your device loses its connection, it will attempt to automatically reconnect to your Wi-Fi. However, if it doesn't, please follow these steps:
Step 1: Manual reconnection
If your device is offline, you can manually reconnect it to your Wi-Fi via its settings in the app.
Step 2: Ensure stable Wi-Fi
You might need to relocate your router to strengthen the signal. Unstable Wi-Fi can often lead to connection drops or delays.
Step 3: Consider a Wi-Fi extender
Maintaining a robust Wi-Fi signal is particularly crucial as the device is located outdoors. Consider integrating a Wi-Fi extender into your network setup to boost the signal strength.
Optimal placement tips
- Keep the doorbell within 33ft (10 meters) of your router
- The fewer walls between the router and doorbell, the better
- Metal and concrete are especially problematic for Wi-Fi signals
